Finder: Historical Trademark of National Interest

The Special Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest, established in 2019 by the Italian ‘Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy’ (MISE), champions ‘Made in Italy’ and celebrates Italian trademarks that have a long historical tradition, i.e. ones which have been registered for at least 50 years, and can demonstrable at least fifty years’ continuous use in industry and commerce.

“Art. 31 of Decree Law No. 34 of April 30, 2019 (the so-called Growth Decree), converted into law, with amendments, by Art. 1 of Law No. 58 of June 28, 2019. 58, provided that owners or exclusive licensees of trademarks registered for at least fifty years or for which it is possible to prove continuous use for at least fifty years, used for the marketing of products or services made in a national productive enterprise of excellence historically linked to the national territory, may obtain registration of the trademark in the register of historical trademarks of national interest, established at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office.” (Source: https://uibm.mise.gov.it/index.php/it/marchio-storico-di-interesse-nazionale)

The Finder brand is now seventy years old. However, obtaining inclusion in this prestigious national register required painstaking and meticulous research in the company’s historical archives. We had to find seek and find documents, photographs and many other kinds of material that could prove the continuity of the brand’s use, and emphasize its Italian essence.

As a result of all the documentation uncovered, Finder’s bid to be included in the special register was successful, and we were recently recognized as a Historical Trademark of National Interest by MISE, confirming the historic authenticity of the company and its products. Over the years, Finder has been guided by the desire to keep true to its roots, and to maintain the values that have made it the company it is today: Independent, innovative, and proudly Italian.

Recognition as a Historical Trademark of National Interest strengthens the reputation of the brand, further protecting it from counterfeiting, or use that does not comply with the company’s ethical policy. It also represents an important step forward in enhancing the company’s heritage – a distinctive element in the eyes of the market and our customers.

This achievement underscores the importance of sustainability and Italian excellence, giving further visibility to a brand that proudly represents the production output and identity of our country.
